THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has pegged the speed limits of trucks and cars to 80 and 120 kilometres per hour (Kph), respectively with effect from January 1, 2017 to reduce rates of auto crashes and deaths on roads and highways in the country, the Borno State Sector Commander of FRSC, Shehu Iliyasu has disclosed.

Iliyasu made this known on Friday in Maiduguri, in an interactive session with journalists on the implementation and safety of installing speed limiters in vehicles in the state. He said that most of the auto crashes that killed and injured many people in the state, are caused by over speeding.

Beneshiekh’s recent auto crash in Borno, Iliyasu said: “The deaths of 24 people last July at Benisheikh town could have been avoided, if the bus had a speed limiter installed. The driver was on top speed, but he could not negotiate the 45 degree angle road into the town, before crashing to kill 25 people with 16 others injured.” He said that when a driver, is on top speed, there is a tendency for tyre busts and veering off the road or highway to crash into a ditch or side tree and buildings. “These are what we wanted to avoid on our roads and highways with these speed limiters for drivers to travel or commute within a maximum speed of 80-120kph,” said the Sector Commander. He said that the FRSC is collaborating with the Nigerian Customs Services (NCS) and Manufacturers Association of Nigerian (MAN) to comply fully with speed limits on roads and highways. He added that this year; 13 cases of auto crashes were reported in Borno state; with 34 deaths, while 26 people were also injured. He also noted that a Stakeholders’ workshop would soon be organised in Maiduguri to enlighten drivers, motorists and tricycle riders on the importance of Vehicles Speed Limiters (VESL) and the safe use of roads. He however noted that the media should also complement by providing a feedback on the compliance of drivers and motorists on speed limits in order to protect more lives and property in the country

LEARN THE IDEOLOGY OF MMM

The modern world is bad. It is inhumane, unfair and unjust. This is the world of money. It is not for people. It is for those who who produce this money, for bankers and financiers, government and millionaires. And people are mere "pawns" in this game. They just serve them as attendants.
Why do bankers work less and earn a hundred times more?

What lies behind the social welfare? Labor. But why do bankers live a hundred times better than common people who really work hard? Do the bankers work harder? Definitely they don't! In addition they do not even produce any material values, as opposed to the workers. Why then the difference in income is so enormous?

Many wonder with all sincerity now, reading this: "Well... a banker and a worker, they cannot be compared! The banker-the head of the Bank, he has power over money, and is well-connected. And we are ordinary people, having no power or clout. Naturally, the banker lives better than we do.
Meanwhile, there is nothing "natural" here. The point is that everyone got used to this state of affairs and takes it as a matter of course. People believe that this is the way of the world, that a banker has to live better and it cannot be otherwise. But in reality things are different and the situation can be changed!!

FRSC Collaborate With EFCC On Fake Driving License

frsc-driver-license
Sector Commander of the FRSC(Federal Road Safety Commission), Commander Edward A. Zamber, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, commended the EFCC for its involvement in license verification of some suspects and also urged the Commission to install speed limit devices in the Commissions vehicles.
“Please preserve your life and those of your staff by installing speed limit devices on all your official cars and please, don’t stop at that, also help us enforce this law on our road users to preserve their lives as well,” Zamber said.

Zamber made the remark while on a courtesy call to the South East zonal office of the Commission, where he commended the efforts of the Commission in its fight against corruption while extending its checks to the rampant use of the fake driving license by some criminal minded Nigerians who use them for account opening purposes amongst others.

He again commended the EFCC for always sending suspicious drivers licenses to the FRSC for proper verification of the authenticity of such licenses during investigations.

Responding, the South-East Zonal Head of the EFCC, Mr. Johnson A. Babalola pledged continuous collaboration with the FRSC and also solicited for a swift response to issues of license verification as most of the Commission’s cases are often time-bound. He also appealed to FRSC to clearly indicate when a license is forged, instead of just saying that the information on the license was not in their database.

According to him, the purpose of using fake license in opening accounts most times, is usually to move suspicious funds, and when attention is drawn to them by way of investigations, such accounts are always immediately abandoned as most are often opened without properly applying the Know Your Customer KYC directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN.

The Zonal Head then thanked the visitors and assured them of a stronger synergy between both agencies that must continue to get better by the day.
